STATSports vs PitcheroGPS: pay more once or less upfront?
Both are vest-mounted football GPS trackers, so this is a cleaner like-for-like comparison than GPS versus boot sensors. The key trade-off is upfront cost against recurring membership.
Choose STATSports if you expect to use a tracker for several seasons and want subscription-free ownership. Choose PitcheroGPS if the lower entry price matters more.
PitcheroGPS is the cheaper way into dedicated football GPS; STATSports becomes more attractive when you value a simple long-term ownership model.

| Decision | STATSports | PitcheroGPS |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Long-term individual tracking | Lower-cost entry to GPS tracking |
| Recurring plan | No required subscription in current consumer proposition | Active membership required to record and view sessions |
| Three-season arithmetic | £220 at current hardware price | £120 + recurring annual membership; check renewal timing before purchase |
| Main question | Will I use it enough to justify the higher initial spend? | Am I happy to keep paying to retain the recording/data workflow? |
Why the subscription changes the answer
PitcheroGPS publishes a £44 annual UK membership after the included trial period. That is not inherently bad value, but it means the £120 headline price is not the whole ownership story. STATSports costs more initially but its current consumer offer is promoted without a required subscription.
For a parent buying a first tracker
PitcheroGPS makes sense when £220 feels too large an experiment. But if the player is likely to track matches and training for several seasons, compare the full ownership period rather than checkout day.
Choose neither if…
You do not yet know what you will do with speed, distance and workload data. Start by logging a few simple performance goals; buying a GPS tracker does not itself improve a player.
