Football cameras
The best camera is the one your team can set up consistently and afford to keep using.
Veo also has a phone-based option
Veo Go uses three compatible iPhones — two to record and one to control — rather than a dedicated Veo camera. It is a different proposition from Veo Cam 3 and is particularly relevant to parents and grassroots teams that already have suitable iPhones.
The decision in plain English
Start with the problem you want the technology to solve. Then compare the data or video workflow, ease of use and recurring commitment. Brand reputation matters, but it should not override suitability.
| Dedicated systems | Purpose-built capture and team workflows. |
|---|---|
| Phone-powered AI | Use a compatible phone with automated tracking hardware. |
| True cost | Include subscriptions, tripods and analysis services. |
RedCard FC True Cost
Our buying guides separate the initial hardware price from required subscriptions, optional analysis services and accessories. Where reliable UK pricing is not available, we avoid pretending an overseas or promotional price is a permanent UK price.
How we will score it
Player trackers: accuracy 25% · useful data 20% · ease of use 15% · subscription/value 20% · app 10% · comfort 10%.
AI cameras: tracking 25% · video quality 15% · setup 15% · analysis 15% · subscription/value 20% · portability 10%.
Start with the recording workflow
A dedicated club camera and a smartphone-based tracking system can both record a match automatically, but ownership feels very different. Decide who sets it up, who needs access afterwards, whether livestreaming matters and whether coaches will actually use paid analysis.
