XbotGo Chameleon review: AI filming with your own phone and no subscription
XbotGo Chameleon is a motorised mount that turns your smartphone into an AI camera that follows play. Core tracking, recording and live streaming need no subscription, which makes it the lowest-cost automated option we cover.
Don't buy XbotGo Chameleon if…
Nobody can spare a phone for the whole match, you need several teams sharing footage in one club system, or a parent already films every game reliably.
The best-value automated camera for a single grassroots team or a parent filming one child's matches.
It saves about £2,000 over three seasons against Veo Cam 3, but you supply the phone, the tripod height and the club workflow yourself.
What it does well
The phone records; the Chameleon rotates to follow play using AI tracking. You can live stream from the same set-up, and XbotGo says it includes free cloud storage. Because the camera is your phone, picture quality improves when you upgrade your phone.
What to plan for
The Standard Bundle has no tripod. XbotGo sells bundles with a 3.77ft tripod and a 13ft tripod; height matters on a full-size pitch, so budget for the taller one or a third-party tripod with a standard mount. The phone is busy for the whole match, so it cannot be your only phone on the touchline.
