Player technology
GPS and wearable technology can make performance visible — but different devices measure very different things.
The decision in plain English
Start with the problem you want the technology to solve. Then compare the data or video workflow, ease of use and recurring commitment. Brand reputation matters, but it should not override suitability.

RedCard FC True Cost
Our buying guides separate the initial hardware price from required subscriptions, optional analysis services and accessories. Where reliable UK pricing is not available, we avoid pretending an overseas or promotional price is a permanent UK price.
How we will score it

Choose the data before the device
Player technology splits into two useful questions: do you mainly want physical workload data such as distance and speed, or technical information closer to what happens at the feet? Starting there prevents a long feature list from deciding the purchase for you.
Use our tracker shortlist for the overview, then STATSports vs Playermaker for the clearest example of the two approaches.
